A first level of automation is making the operation of the individual machines automatic; subsequent levels are achieved with fully automatic production, in which the machine is also maneuvered and the quality control takes place automatically; with automatic units, consisting of several machines whose work is automatically guided and controlled (for example, automatic units for the assembly of complex electronic equipment); with automatic systems in which several phases of the production process are developed in a single complex, guided and controlled automatically (for example, processing of the material, packaging and storage of the product).
